About Bonney’s Inn

About Bonney’s Inn, Deloraine’s Oldest Brick Building

Experience a truly unique stay at historical Bonney’s Inn Circa 1830, a Heritage Listed Building with a fascinating history and the kind of warmth and charm that only a home of its age can afford. Bonney’s Inn was Deloraine’s very first brick building and is nestled right in the beating heart of this wonderfully creative and colourful village. We are just footsteps away from boutique shops, art galleries, cafes, olde world pubs and an easy stroll away from the green banks of the stunning Meander River. Our guest rooms contain more on the intriguing history of the Inn and the families who built and lived in it over the years. We very much look forward to you becoming part of its story and sharing our special little slice of Tasmania.

Outside your door (it’s why we live here)

A stay in Deloraine, the Arts and Crafts capital of Tasmania is bound to restore the spirit and inspire possibility. Step outside Bonney’s Inn and you are immediately amongst a creative and welcoming community of artisans, thinkers and makers. Enjoy meeting the artists in the diverse selection of art galleries, be transported back in history in the fabulous Folk Museum, watch the sublime Yarn Exhibition in the Visitors Information Centre and follow the path of the Sculpture Trail. Immerse yourself in tranquility along the green banks of the stunning Meander River and delight in the evening show of platypus as they feed and play as the sun goes down.

Just half an hour away

Deloraine is the gateway to so many incredible experiences in Northern Tasmania.

In less than half an hour (by car) you can be walking up the track to the mesmerizing Alum Cliffs lookout, or you could be taking a guided tour through the magical Mole Creek Marakoopa Caves. Head over to Sheffield to marvel at the town of murals or treat your tastebuds to the Tasting Trail…start at the Christmas Hills Raspberry farm, nip next door to Van Diemens Land Creamery, across the road to do some delicious cheese tasting at Ashgrove Dairy, then onto the Anvers Chocolate Factory and then just keep going until you need to come home to the Inn to recover (or burst). Don’t forget that the “Big smoke” cities of Launceston and Devonport are both only 35 minutes from Deloraine and we are still just a picturesque 90 minutes away from Cradle Mountain. You can easily leave the Inn early, spend a day on the mountain and be home for dinner in the pub next door (we have done it and so have many of our guests!) Bonney’s Inn at Deloraine makes the perfect base for these adventures and many, many more.
